Editorial Lakeside Wedding

From the time I first met Liza and Sam to chat about their wedding photography they expressed that they wanted their wedding to be all about what they wanted and they did just that. They wanted an unconventional lakeside wedding, where they were not pressured by an intense schedule and long photo list, so everything was spontaneous and candid for this wedding day. Want a picture with a family member? Grab them and let’s snap a shot real quick overlooking the gorgeous lake! Catch the bride and groom playing lawn games? Let’s get some fun candid shots! This was such a relaxed and spontaneous day and I highly recommend going this route with your own wedding day if you’re wanting a calmer schedule. Keep reading to hear more about their gorgeous lakeside wedding.

The wedding was held at Liza’s parent’s lake house outside of Dallas in East Texas, which had the most gorgeous views and was perfect for a summer wedding. They did all the florals themselves, which they kept all white and simple with rose bouquets and even a bridge covered in white florals. Liza and Sam had a nautical and vintage wedding theme that was just so cool and original. Many of their details incorporated details such as old wedding photos of her family, white gloves that had been passed down, and Liza even did some bridal shots in her mother’s wedding dress. Liza also included the vintage inspired bridal photos that we took prior to the wedding of her wearing pearls, talking on an old photo, and carrying a leather suitcase. They had old fashion lawn games, hors d’oeuvres floating around for dinner, a coffee bar overlooking the water, and they even cruised right in to their wedding reception on a boat, James Bond style. Liza and Sam’s family made this even more amazing by surprising the newlyweds with the vintage, wooden boat of their dreams.

Liza had a vision for her dress from a young age, so she custom designed it with Elizabeth Lee Bridal. Her dress was sleek and fitted, strapless with a corset top and a bit of a flair at the bottom. It also has a removable skirt for party time. They liked her dress so much that they decided to start selling it and even named it after the bride herself the “Liza”. Her hair and make was sleek and classy, with a slicked back bun, winged eyed liner, and a classic red lip. Liza is like a modern day Audrey Hepburn with her class and creativity. I loved every second of getting to work with her to bring all of her photography visions to life.

Their ceremony was lakefront with a gorgeous weeping willow as the backdrop. As guests walked in they could grab a bottle, write sam and Liza a message, and throw it into the lake. During the ceremony, Liza walked down her unconventional aisle of a bridge covered in flowers. Sam and Liza stood on a white podium as their friends and family had the honor of watching Sam and Liza tie the knot. Their wedding was on the most beautiful summer day in September. During the reception, they were able to enjoy the warm breeze while they played lawn games, ate delicious food, and just enjoyed each other and their friends and family. All the while, still capturing the most gorgeous and genuine memories that will allow them to relive the night forever. They ended the night with a confetti exit and then a boat ride to let a floating lantern into the night sky. The perfect way to end this iconic lakeside wedding.
